For my alumni of Part 1, I have designed 4 intimate sessions that reinforce your uniqueness and continue building upon the adjustments and explorations that you’ve started.
I’ve tweaked my 15+ year old signature class to include EXTRA FOCUS on self-tape techniques!
Again, in this online course, you’ll be getting extra attention to self-tape techniques that will blow your mind with inspiration. Plus, we’ll take a detailed look at your own tech setup.
CLASS 1: WHY YOU ARE SPECIAL
Sounds cheesy, but I’m betting that you don’t know why you are so special and valuable to a script, to a director, or to a character. I will assign a scene to you and show you why.
CLASS 2: DELIVERING EXPOSITION & CHARACTER WORK
Auditioning with boring exposition material requires a lot of character work to sell why you are perfect for the “undefined” role. Oh, this is one of my favorite classes. P.S. I’ll provide exposition scenes for you to choose from.
CLASS 3: GOING BEYOND
Focus on taking emotional risk in the audition. I’ll encourage you to stretch yourself beyond your own beliefs. I’ll also push you to take risks in a highly charged emotional scene or a ridiculously comedic one.
CLASS 4: FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU
Dramatic scenes are not the only way to show your range, your charm, and your specialness. What attracts people to you? Discover what your scene partners and audiences are responding to.

I’m fully invested in you, and I’m learning your defaults and your strengths. We will continue to stretch your talents with each assignment.
TIME COMMITMENT
You will need to plan for homework time to research your assignment, prepare your materials, and practice your self-tape set-ups. All studio classes are designed to stretch and support your complete prep process as an actor for self-tapes and in-person auditions. The more you put into the class, the more you get out of it!
OUR WORK TOGETHER
This is not a networking class with a casting director. This is an acting and auditioning class with a teacher who has over two decades of professional high-level experience and who cares most about the actor’s process. In the end, I believe it is the process that books the job and supports the actor’s need to stay inspired.
ACTING COACH: Heidi’s career has spanned over 25 years and includes time as the lead Casting Director at Telsey+CO for the Broadway musical RENT, as well as for 70+ projects in theater, film, television, commercial, and voiceover. She’s coached countless actors into roles for Film, TV, and Theater. Most recently, she coached and prepped Halle Bailey for her audition and screen test for Disney’s upcoming The Little Mermaid. Heidi’s active filmmaker career informs her director’s eye and influences her aesthetic for working with actors.

A great class for working or ready-to-work actors to explore and expand their limits in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. Heidi is a WEALTH of knowledge and shares all of it openly and with plenty of encouragement.
The class to empower you as an artist. This is the class the lifts you up and supports you exactly where you are. You are special! You don’t have to change who you are to be cast-able! The class gives you so much agency in your own career!
I feel more prepared for live and live virtual auditions. I feel more confident in breaking down a scene and prepping it. I feel more inspired to make bolder choices. I now have a self tape channel that shows my range and I’m happy to have that to share.
A wonderful deep dive into expanding the tools you have to play with a character.You get practical tips that make it easier to grapple with a scene and gain confidence in understanding who you are and how that makes you a good actor. I loved the “you idiot” exercise.
I’m always blown away by the first class in Part 2. It’s reassuring and puts some inspirational gas back into the tank. Same thing with the RomCom class! This is the class that helps you highlight who you are uniquely (and make sure the world knows it!) while also opening up possibilities of who else you already are, but maybe didn’t even realize it. You get to know yourself even better.

In this class, I had to look deeply into myself in ways that I haven’t for any other class. I’ve been acting and trying to act on-and-off through college and the real world for years, and only after this class do I know what it means to be an actor.
I always tell people that I started following Heidi on Facebook and signed up for emails for a whole year before I took my first class, and that I LOVED the content (which is rare nowadays!!).
Perfect for gaining acceptance, and layering of your process. Great energy and you’re given the space to get as much out of the class as you put in. Great students, this is the class you’d wish you started with.
It is a masterful blend of technical on-camera practice with a psychological approach for how to stay in it for the long haul.
I was challenged each week and stepped out of my comfort zone often. The website, indie photos and clip site are awesome tools to have going forward and I probably never would have done them without the push of the class. And I loved that everyone was held accountable and doing the work.

I think this class helped me understand that I am enough and I do not need to put on any airs to get cast.
I took Part 1 and Part 2 about 3 1/2 years apart so I feel like a completely different actor! Looking back at my clips from part 1 and part 2, I now see more boldness and strength in my choices, and more emotional availability and nuance. I also have a stronger grasp on the kind of characters I want to play/have an affinity for and the kind of worlds and stories I want to be a part of. I’m proud of how I’ve progressed!
This class provided a warm, collaborative, relaxed, safe environment where I was able to explore and challenge myself without feeling the need to prove myself or be perfect. The other actors in the class were smart, talented, passionate, open, and kind and I feel like this is a testament to how Heidi is as a teacher and artist. Her knowledge as a filmmaker is incredibly valuable and provides a unique perspective that feels different from other classes I’ve taken. Throughout the four weeks, I received honest feedback that sometimes made me feel a bit uncomfortable and vulnerable at times, but it was given with such kindness and insightfulness from Heidi and my fellow classmates and in turn has provided me with a lot of self knowledge and clarity. This class has empowered and inspired me, and I feel like a better actor and storyteller because of it!
One of the best camera acting classes I have taken that touches on craft and business of acting.
I’m much more confident in my on camera skills. I’m learning to give myself more and more permission to take risks. I showed up prepared and ready for every class and kept an open mind throughout the course, which in turn helped me grow. I’m getting better at choosing scenes for myself. I am less afraid of auditioning for tv and film. I trust my instincts and believe in my on camera abilities more.

Really mind blowing. I didn’t think I could learn so much in only 4 classes, nor did I think I could feel so inspired to re-join the industry after a year of feeling defeated and uninspired. I also never fully believed that I had what it took to do on-camera acting (that I’d always only be in theatre), and Heidi inspired a confidence in me that I don’t think any teacher ever has before.
Looking back at the footage from week 1 of part 1 to now, I feel like a different actor! I also learned a lot about how much of a range I hold. I always felt pretty restricted, but now with all of the different characters I’ve played I feel so much more open and free.
it’s a confidence booster – it equips you with all the online tools and acting skills you need to put yourself out there with confidence.
YEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO – I feel so much more confident in a room or over zoom. I feel confident and specific about what I bring into a room. And I feel like I have a better idea of what feels good and fun, it’s is a nice reminder. Lean into the fun, lean into what’s interesting to you and that will be interesting to all of us. All of this I’ve learned along the way in this class!

Wow…I feel like I’m a different actor. Overall, I feel more grounded, more confident in my choices in the prep and on camera, and just more playful and less in my head. I am SO much more comfortable with stillness and subtlety. I’ve broken down some major barriers for me in class, and I’m thinking like a filmmaker more and more.
While Part I ignited my creative flame, Part II builds the bonfire–I feel like I’m immersed in and inspired by the tv/film world when I’m in class. Being held accountable and connected to a supportive community has kept me tethered to the industry while it feels like we’re all scattered to the winds right now. I needed Part II to really integrate and put into practice the things I learned from Part I and Nailing The Genre.
My confidence as an actor has grown so much, and I had a new breakthrough every class.
Heidi’s class is a beautiful on-camera “boot-camp” where students are guided towards truth, specificity of choices, and ownership of their unique talents. In her class, I had a new awakening of my love of acting, and the process of creating characters who evoke the imagined worlds they come from. While taking the class, a spark was lit in me, and a hunger to build and share my distinctive storytelling on-camera was born. In Heidi’s class, the camera becomes your friend, and your confidante!
The ideal class in expanding the way you think about the entire acting process. It becomes about collaboration, filmmaking, telling a story and not about your small type, your acting training, or your credits. It helps train your mind to think in terms of the big picture to become the ultimate creator.
A good follow-up to Part 1. One thing I particularly liked about it was how much confidence I had gained about my own ability and uniqueness during the break I took between the two courses.
This is a class that is not being taught anywhere else right now. This is what all other 4-year college programs and business classes in conservatories WISH they could be teaching, but they’re not, and are likely too antiquated, and not aware of HALF of this stuff. This is where the actor goes to see where they fit in today’s TV/Film world – and LOVE that about themselves – and to actually awaken their business sense. Understanding the business of it all is not something to be afraid of (which was my problem), but to be empowered by.
One of the things I really love about working with Heidi is her ability to lift you up while also pushing you further. This class specifically was really great for learning to think like a filmmaker and start looking at the film as a whole rather than individual scenes you audition with.
I love the way you teach. You don’t just teach how to act, you teach us to actually know ourselves and do well business wise.
In just 4 classes, I can’t even count the amount of fears and insecurities you helped me put to bed. More importantly, I can’t count the number of a-ha moments and incredible bits of new info I’m taking with me. I genuinely feel transformed and leveled up as an actor and as a person – what more could someone ask for?

If you feel lost in a sea of actors-who-are-trying-to-make-it and you have completely forgotten what makes you special or if you are even special at all, you have to take this class.
If you feel locked up with technical notes/tough feedback/cringing while you watch your self tapes and you’ve completely forgotten how to play or dig up the interesting stuff, you’ve got to take this class.
If it’s been a long time since you’ve taken an acting class where you actually feel safe to try things outside of your comfort zone, you’ve got to take this class.
It was amazing taking the two parts a year apart — I was struck by how much I’ve grown as an actor simply by growing a lot as a person over the course of a year. I am worlds more confident. I am so much more myself on-camera! I am more willing to play, investigate, and take risks. I approach on-camera work with curiosity and joy as opposed to trepidation.
Heidi’s class is necessary if you want to stay up to date on this ever changing industry, while exercising your artist muscles, and learning to be kind to yourself.
This class is a great way for an actor to stay current, practice their craft, collaborate with others and sharpen their acting and audition prowess.

Your classes are so supportive and nurturing, and you build an amazingly wonderful community within the Zoom classroom walls. I get excited to prepare fully and present my best takes so I can learn the most from you and my peers. You meet us where we are in the moment, then encouragingly push us forward. I’ve taken some other on-camera Zoom classes this quarantine, and your format is far and away the most fruitful one I’ve experienced so far (everything from the class size and length to the self-tape tech requirements to feedback to a nuanced focus on marketing and the current industry). I feel like in the eight classes of Parts 1 & 2 I have grown by leaps and bounds.
I feel much more comfortable on camera and with watching myself now. I understand that it’s not about “less” and I really play/discover the character more now. I know techniques on how to use the frame and I’m also much better at auditioning using the tools you gave

I just finished filming a short this weekend and I was so so so relieved that it was after taking your class. Rather than trying to land a perfect take, I used each opportunity to make different choices, to give the director more choices not one, and it was sooooooo freeing!!!!!

Going Beyond was the most valuable exercise for me. Not necessarily because of how my work changed when you worked on it with me. (I really really liked the last take that I got.) But the lesson was helpful because of the process that you introduced to us to use after auditions.
Your class shifted my mind and heart and perspective in such a positive direction. You are perpetuating a community of creative people that are kind to and considerate of each other. It is amazing to understand there is no real “other side” of the table, we are all striving towards the same goals!
I definitely feel like I made more risks since Part 1. I noticed that I tend to stay away from doing comedy because I don’t think I’m funny, but it’s so much fun to do the more physically demanding roles!
It was extremely valuable to hear that we all need to find what we like about ourselves and what we can pat ourselves on the back for accomplishing, because chances are no one will do it for us.
Second time around and I didn’t think it was possible to learn anymore from you but I sure did. I felt like class was even more challenging for me this time. Thank you for pushing me. For helping me acknowledge my crutches and work through them. Showed me how to put things into action. I feel like I have a whole new set of tools to help me in that audition room. But most importantly you reminded me that my career goes beyond what I do in the room, but that I also have to know how to market myself and showcase my work in the best way possible.

In the beginning, I was unclear about how much of myself I should bring to the character. And now, I feel secure to create character using my core qualities. We quickly realized there’s no wrong way to read a scene. Everyone will bring their own spin. No need to try and become something we are not. We can simply create from our most authentic selves. I also have a better sense of my marketability and the direction of my site!
I learned so much about myself and acting from your class, and for the first time, I found the joy and fun in auditioning. I had two auditions for plays two weeks ago and used what I learned in your class for both auditions. I got great feedback and booked both of them!
Part one is a great foundation, but part two gives me permission to actually believe all the “Ah-ha” moments I’m having. So much so, that these “Ah-ha” moments are happening outside the classroom–AND I BELIEVE THEM!
Taking the alumni class is a booster, I feel so much more connected to my craft and have a better focus on what my goals are…it’s the recharge I needed!
I will say that the first class of Part 2 blew my mind. By seeing other actors deliver the same material in a completely different way, it exposed that the only person you compete with is yourself and that no one really does what you do.
Thanks again for the great class. It was really nice to get to know you again after all these years, and I do feel that what I learned in the class has fundamentally changed how I audition on camera. No small thing!
I see your classes as a continuation, a process of going more in depth with your actor self and your marketability. In Part 1, you find your niche but may only go partially there commitment-wise on the journey. In Part 2, I saw in my self and other actors a deeper commitment to our own place and marketing it to the entertainment community AND a lesson that this journey of “coming to this marketing commitment “is a deeply creative one, not just “Marketing” in a cold sense.
The thing about your classes is that you are asking students to learn about themselves – who they ARE. Serious self-reflection can be a jarring thing for some people. But the ones who really buy in and want to actively take part in that journey, they sign up for the next class because they want to continue learning about themselves. So you have this group of people who really “get” that to understand any character, they have to understand themselves first.
In Part One class, I was able to find how to tap into the audition process and in Part Two I was able to find how to tap into the overall process of my career.
Part 2 I felt was all about delving into the relationship between the actor and the camera. A more technical class. Part one was delving in to self, identifying type, working toward and against type casting- and part 2 I think incorporates all of that work and then brings on camera technique to it, Maybe that was just my experience, but I felt that after 1 I could identify roles I would be cast in and roles I’d like to play and part 2 was taking that knowledge and putting it to use by applying technical skills in front of the camera and refining my audition prep. Also, after 2, I knew what kind of photos I wanted and how I wanted to market myself through my website. That was HUGE help to the start of that journey.
Part I class should be required for any seriously-minded actor whether the individual is just starting out or has been pounding the pavement for 15 years. With that said, you really start to apply and see the results in Part II class. It’s remarkable how much growth that takes place in everyone when they take Part II class. You can see that change take place even more as you witness actors honing their craft in the Alumni Gym.
I loved Part 2 class with you. I learned quite a few things…It’s best to really commit to my point of view of the scene and do it the way I really want to, not the way I THINK someone would want me to do. I learned that it is really important to bring MY best qualities and strengths to the character. And you and the class really helped me learn what those best qualities are. Updating my website helped give me focus and tune into the reality that I am my own CEO.
I felt more like a part of a creative family than I have since conservatory. You do a great (like, one of the best in the industry) job of facilitating a sense of community in your classes, and that was even more present in 2 than 1. It was definitely helpful to my learning to feel so very comfortable in Part 2 with the group, and the size of the group. It was really really helpful to continue straight on from Part 1. There’s something about saturating yourself in the mindset that causes long term shifts.
