Kalyne Coleman

Hey Ya’ll!

Yeah, I said ya’ll. My name is Kalyne and every day I wake up, I choose art. I choose sharing stories that matter. I choose the power of performance. Yes, give me abnormal. Give me absurd. Give me uncomfortable. Give me phenomenal. Give me film. Give me theatre.

I’m from Richmond, Virginia and I’ve been making my way up the east coast since undergrad at Upenn. I’ve lived that New York actor life too. I even worked at the Drama Book Shop! Now, I am a graduate of Brown Trinity Rep’s MFA in Acting Program and I am ready to work!

I’ve committed to uplifting and challenging humanity. I honor my ancestors and all of those who believe in me. I release inhibitions and negative energy. I summon joy, love, and artistic fulfillment. I offer my truth and I share stories that matter. Stories that I hope will inspire the minds of those who will change the world.

A little more about me. I have a BA in Communications and Theater from the University of Pennsylvania and additional training from the Black Arts Theater Intensive, Actors Studio Drama School, and Goldsmiths University of London. I most recently starred in Brown Trinity Rep's Production of References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot. This summer, I originated the role of Leigh in the World Premiere of America v. 2.1: The Sad Demise and Eventual Extinction of the American Negro by Stacey Rose at Barrington Stage Company. This production won the 2019 Broadway World Berkshires Outstanding Play Production Award.

Currently, I have had the the beautiful opportunity to embody Nikki Giovanni and Lorraine Hansberry in "Lessons in Survival" streaming on the Vineyard Theatre's Website. Coming up, I will be participating in the 2020 ABC Discovers Talent Showcase and in a Virtual Reading of Stacey Rose's America V. 2.1 with Colt Coeur. Please check out my website for more info.

Thank you for stopping by and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
