Sanam Laila Hashemi

I’m an Iranian-American actor and writer based in New York City.

I love developing new work and have been in workshops/readings with Playwrights Horizons, Roundabout Theatre, The Acting Company, Working Theater, and Ridge Theater. I’ve also performed regionally at theaters across the country.

As an inaugural member of Cadence Theatre Company’s Pipeline New Works Fellowship, I’ve written two plays under the mentorship of David Lindsay-Abaire: Cross Stitch Bandits (co-written with Steven Burneson) and Thursday. I also write and produce short films with a gang of collaborators, like Jiggle the Knob (Best Narrative Short, Progeny Film Fest) and Don’t Blink Twice.

I hold degrees in Theater Performance and International Studies from Virginia Tech and am represented by DGRW.
