Sanam Laila Hashemi

Sanam is an Iranian-American actor and writer based in NYC.

Most recently she joined Mosaic Theater Company’s production of Keffiyeh: Made in China and TheaterWorks Hartford’s The Who & The What. As an inaugural member of Cadence Theatre Company’s Pipeline New Works Fellowship, she wrote two plays under the mentorship of David Lindsay-Abaire. The first play, Cross Stitch Bandits, will make its world premiere as a Cadence Theatre Company & Virginia Repertory Theater co-production in June 2022.

Sanam also writes and produces short films with a gang of collaborators, including Jiggle the Knob (Best Narrative Short, Progeny Film Fest) and Don’t Blink Twice. She holds degrees in Theater Performance and International Studies from Virginia Tech. She is represented by DGRW.
