Sanam Laila Hashemi

I'm an Iranian-American actor and writer. A Virginia native, I’m currently based in New York City. I like to tell stories about the big little moments in life. I want to create and claim space in narratives that aren’t traditionally told by people who look like me.

Most recently, I made my Washington D.C. debut with Mosaic Theatre Company's production of Pilgrims Musa and Sheri in the New World. Since 2018, I’ve been a proud member of Cadence Theatre Company’s Pipeline New Works Fellowship, where I’ve written two plays, Cross Stitch Bandits and Thursday, under the mentorship of David Lindsay-Abaire. When I get just anxious enough, I write short films and produce them with my friends.
