Rick Hickman’s theatrical story began at age 10, when he wrote, directed and starred in a compelling play about the explorer Sir Francis Drake. His professional education kicked off in high school when he studied with San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre. After majoring in drama (San Diego State University) and creative writing (San Francisco State University), Rick helped found the award-winning Z Collective theater company in San Francisco, where he penned their acclaimed adaptation of Sinclair Lewis’ “It Can’t Happen Here”. Other SF credits include three seasons with the Magic Theater (“The Baltimore Waltz”), touring with the SF Mime Troupe (“I Ain’t Yo Uncle”) and staged readings with the Eureka Theater.
NY and LA credits include TV spots (“Criminal Minds”, “Boston Legal”, “Passions”) and off-off-off Broadway productions.
Throughout the years, Rick has had the good fortune to study with the likes of Janet Alhanti, Tim Phillips, the Barrow Group, the Groundlings and Heidi Marshall.
After a several-year segue into the wine and beverage industry, Rick has returned to his great passion that began on that grade school swashbuckling sea.
