The audition process can feel self-defeating if it’s only approached with the goal to “get hired.” Not only that, but the process of being on set can be extremely frustrating and unsatisfying if approached with mindset of being “hired” talent only. The one-eighty switch is to become a collaborator in the storytelling and a great contributor of ideas. If you are truly in pursuit of your artistry and the project’s intention, then that makes for a much more interesting actor. Creatives want to work with collaborative actors to build incredible projects together. Be that actor.

This same approach applies to creating a WONDERFUL and alluring audition. People love to watch the artist inside the art, and not just the actor trying to be hired.

Let’s access the artist in all that you do.

My process of working with actors is to encourage and strengthen your love for acting while cleverly uncovering your creative choices. Also, I love to get actors off their “plan” with the scenes—watching an actor execute a set plan is predictable and uninspiring to the actor themselves (!) and of course to viewers. Watching a free and inspired actor play is exactly what attracts more work to you.

You are being hired for your ideas, your creativity, your imagination. Let’s activate it!

Who is this class good for?

Seeking actors who are committed to the work, open to growth, self-reflective about your own process, and eager to be in community with other inspired actors.

Actors who want to take back their art.

Actors who seek to trust their instincts over all else.

Actors who know they are ready to work.

Actors who want to thrive as artists.

For this masterclass, we are inviting seasoned actors who have strong experience in the audition process or on professional sets. In truth, actors learn from working alongside actors of all levels and experiences and, in fact, that is exactly what happens on set. For this intensive day, we are going to collaborate, build, and up-level each actor’s skill and intention. Please show up committed and prepared. This is not for beginners.
